Presented by Fierce Mamas in partnership with ShapeShifter Art School & Gallery, Gather is an ongoing creative series that uses art and storytelling as practices of witness. Caregivers come together to notice, name, and make meaning from experiences that are often difficult to explain—and to offer one another the rare experience of being seen without having to translate everything first.

Each gathering offers its own point of entry, so participants may attend once or return throughout the series. The sessions also build on one another: materials, stories, and individual and collective projects will accumulate over time into an evolving body of work intended for exhibition, with each participant retaining control over whether and how their work is shared.

Participants may explore drawing, writing, collage, textiles, photography, found objects, or the materials and artifacts that accumulate around care. A gathering might continue a shared project from an earlier session or begin with a story, question, image, or object and follow where it leads.

Gather is open to caregivers of all kinds. No artistic experience, previous attendance, or fully formed story is necessary—only curiosity.
